Home Depot Thanksgiving Hours 2026 and Black Friday Opening Time
Home Depot is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026.
Stores reopen at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, November 27, according to the company’s 2026 holiday schedule.
Those are the Home Depot Thanksgiving hours on the official schedule. The days around the holiday keep regular store hours.
Thanksgiving Week Hours at Home Depot
- Regular hours on Wednesday, November 25
- Closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26
- Open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, November 27
- Regular hours on Saturday and Sunday, November 28 and 29

Regular hours at most stores mean 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 or 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The Home Depot hours breakdown shows how that varies by store.
So yes, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a normal shopping day. The company published this schedule on March 30, 2026, and it lists no regional exceptions, though it still tells shoppers to check the store locator for local hours.
After the holiday weekend, the next change is Christmas Eve, when stores close at 5 p.m.
None of this is new. Home Depot’s 2025 schedule also closed stores on Thanksgiving and kept regular hours on Black Friday, and the 2026 list repeats that pattern day for day.
Black Friday Opening Time
Home Depot’s 2026 holiday hours page lists a 6 a.m. opening on Black Friday and no early closing.

Here’s the part most holiday-hours pages skip. 6 a.m. is already the normal weekday opening at most Home Depot stores, so Black Friday doesn’t start any earlier than an ordinary Friday there.
It only matters at stores that usually open later, like city locations with a 7 a.m. start. If your store’s page shows 7 a.m., check whether it moves to 6 for the day.
The deals don’t wait for Friday either. In 2025, Home Depot’s own site listed its Black Friday sale as running from November 5 through December 3, 9to5Toys reported.

2026 looks like a repeat. The Independent reported on October 13 that Home Depot’s early Black Friday deals launch November 4, though Home Depot hadn’t posted those dates on its own pages yet.
That’s why I’d skip the 6 a.m. run unless one specific deal is on your list. If the sale starts three weeks before the holiday again, most of those prices will have been live for weeks by Friday morning.
Planning a Trip Around the Holiday
Wednesday, November 25, is the last full shopping day before the holiday. If the list includes folding tables, extension cords or a fresh propane tank for the turkey fryer, that’s the day to grab them.
Black Friday runs to your store’s normal closing time, since the schedule lists only the 6 a.m. opening. An evening trip on Friday is a fair option if you’d rather skip the morning.
The weekend after is ordinary. Saturday, November 28, and Sunday, November 29, keep regular hours, so projects that start after the holiday don’t face any special schedule.
Renting Tools and Trucks Thanksgiving Week
Home Depot’s Tool Rental Center keeps the store’s hours, so nothing goes out or comes back on Thanksgiving Day. A tool you pick up Wednesday stays with you until Friday morning at the earliest.
That changes which rate makes sense. Home Depot’s own rental pricing, saved by the Wayback Machine, usually prices a week of tool rental at four daily rates.
Here’s my math for an electric pressure washer priced at $47 a day and $188 a week at Atlanta-area stores in July 2025. Rates vary by store, but the pattern holds.
| Holiday rental | Daily rates | Weekly rate |
|---|---|---|
| Friday to Monday | $141 | $188 |
| Wednesday to Monday | $235 | $188 |
A Friday pickup is cheapest on daily rates. Once a Wednesday rental runs through the long weekend, ask for the weekly rate, which also buys you until the following Wednesday.
Ask the counter whether your store charges for the closed Thursday before you sign. I’d plan on paying for it, since rental fees keep running until the tool is back on the counter.
Load ‘N Go trucks and vans start at $19 for the first 75 minutes and have to go back to the store they came from. That makes Wednesday the day for a quick lumber or furniture haul, since no truck can come back on Thursday.
Shopping Online and Calling on Thanksgiving Day
Stores are dark, but homedepot.com and the Home Depot app keep taking orders.
Phone help stays on too. Home Depot’s online customer care line, 1-800-430-3376, runs 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Eastern seven days a week, and its posted schedule names Christmas Day as the day it closes, not Thanksgiving.
Store pickup and curbside orders wait for the doors to reopen on Friday.
Lowe’s won’t help on Thursday either. Lowe’s said in its October 8 holiday announcement that its stores will stay closed on Thanksgiving Day, so a forgotten part means a pharmacy or grocery run, or a wait until Friday.
Kids Workshop Before Thanksgiving
The free Home Depot Kids Workshop adds a bonus session the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Home Depot’s 2026 calendar lists a Christmas car ornament on November 21, two weeks after the regular November 7 dump truck.

The calendar shows the ornament as a little red car with a tree on the roof, a window for a photo and a 2026 plate, which makes it an easy gift for grandparents.
There’s no workshop on the holiday weekend itself. Sign-up details are in the Kids Workshop schedule.
Returns Around Thanksgiving
Most returns can wait until Friday. In-store returns are processed on the spot, and most items have a 90-day window, so a closed Thursday barely matters.
Short windows are the exception. Gas generators get only 7 days under Home Depot’s return policy, and a closed Thanksgiving is one of them.

Major appliances work differently. Their 48-hour returns start with a call to Home Depot’s Customer Solutions line, which lists hours seven days a week, so that clock doesn’t wait for the store.
Black Friday gifts that come back after the holidays follow a simpler rule. Home Depot takes gift returns at the store and issues store credit.
Holiday decorations may have a shorter clock. SlashGear reported in August that holiday decor bought at Home Depot now has to come back within 30 days, unused and with proof of purchase. Lights or inflatables bought on Black Friday would then need to go back by December 27.
